OUR FARM

We are local

THE EGG BASKET FARM IS LOCATED IN MACEDONIA, IL.

By being a local farm, our eggs can always be delivered fresh. Since our eggs are produced and processed on the farm, we are able to limit the time and food miles from our farm to your table.

108+ sq ft per bird on our farm.

We have 13 total acres of pasture for our hens.

WHY IS IT
IMPORTANT FOR CHICKENS TO BE PASTURED?

BEHAVIORAL EXPRESSION

Giving chickens pastures to roam allows them to express natural behaviors, such as walking, spreading their wings, dust bathing, and perching. When chickens can engage in these activities, they are likely to be less stressed and more physically active, contributing to overall better health.

PHYSICAL HEALTH

Providing more space for hens to move around will contribute to better physical health. Healthier hens are likely to lay eggs with stronger shells and higher nutritional content.

REDUCED STRESS

Having chickens caged can be stressful for them due to confinement and limited movement. Stress can negatively impact egg production and quality. By allowing the hens to roam across pastures, they experience less stress, resulting in more optimal conditions for laying eggs.

DIET & EXERCISE

By allowing the hens to roam through pastures, they have more access to a varied diet and opportunities for exercise. This can lead to better muscle development, healthier egg production, and potentially improved egg quality.

OUR EGGS ARE FARM FRESH!

We wash, grade for weight, and pack our eggs at a minimum of once per week on the farm. From there, the eggs head out in cases for delivery to retailers and restaurants. Our goal is to have our eggs on the shelf and headed to your table in 10 days or less.
